Former English champion ‘Smokin’ Joe Mullender (10-2) has received a financial boost from J.Ebsworth Brickwork Services Ltd ahead of his IBF European title shot on December 9.
Mullender, 31 from Brentwood, vacated the English strap to aim for European honours at the Copper Box Arena in London in front of the BT Sport cameras.
Former employer, Jason Ebsworth, signed up to support Joe’s title tilt when approached by TR Sports Agency, the management team that handle all of ‘Smokin Joe’s’ commercial interests.
Jason commented on the new partnership, “I’ve known Joe for a while and I train at his RM7 gym in Romford with his trainer Jamie Williams.
“Funnily enough, Joe actually worked for me for a bit many years ago, so I wanted to support Joe because he is a local boy doing good and, being a family business, I wanted to give something back to the local area.
“It would be great for Joe to bring back another title to Essex and hopefully inspire the next generation of boxers in the area.”
The J.Ebsworth branding will feature prominently on Joe’s fight kit on the stacked show, titled ‘The Boys are Back in Town’, featuring two world champion headliners in IBF world super-middleweight titleholder James DeGale and IBF world featherweight king Lee Selby.
For over two decades, J.Ebsworth Brickwork Services Ltd have undertaken numerous projects in the South East, ranging from full supply and fit packages to labour only projects.
The family business specialise in high-end residential brickwork projects, as well as a wide range of other services in the South East area.
The middleweight ace about to embark on his 13th professional contest added, “I’m really pleased Jason has got behind me for this fight. It’s my first time fighting on BT Sport and I’m never in a dull fight, so I promise I’ll steal the show on December 13.
“I never take a backward step, so I’ll be in the fight of the night, just like my last two fights with Lee Markham were fight of the year contenders.”
Trained by Jamie Williams at the Legends Gym in Romford, the 160-pounder will fight over 12-rounds for the IBF title that instantly propels the winner into the top-15 of the International Boxing Federation world rankings, mixed with names such as David Lemiuex, Daniel Jacobs and Jermall Charlo.
Joe’s IBF European title fight will be televised live on BT Sport and Box Nation TV on December 13.
